NIGHT PORTRAIT mode
This allows you to take pictures of a 
person and the background with near real-
life brightness.
NIGHT PORTRAIT
This function is suitable for taking pictures 
of a person in dark places.
NIGHT SCENERY
Night scenery is vividly photographed with 
maximum of 8 seconds slow shutter.
ILLUMINATIONS
Illuminations are photographed beautifully.
CREATIVE NIGHT SCENERY
The aperture value can be changed with 
the same setting in [NIGHT SCENERY].

Recording technique
We recommend using a tripod and the 
self-timer for taking pictures.
In [NIGHT PORTRAIT], we recommend 
rotating the zoom lever to W (Wide) and 
being about 1.5 m from the subject when 
taking a picture. Keep the subject still for 
about 1 second after taking the picture.
The range in which the focus is adjusted 
is: 
[NIGHT PORTRAIT]: 1.2 m to 5 m
other settings: 5 m to

The shutter may remain closed (max. 
about 8 sec.) after taking the picture 
because of signal processing. This is not 
a malfunction.
Noise may become noticeable when 
taking pictures in dark places.
The flash ([
 Slow sync./Red-eye 
reduction] fixed) can be set for settings 
only for [NIGHT PORTRAIT].


In [NIGHT SCENERY] the shutter speed 
becomes as follows: 
Max. 8 seconds:
When optical image stabilizer is [OFF]
When optical image stabilizer is 
[MODE1] or [MODE2] and the camera 
determines that there is little jitter
Max. 1/8 second:
Other cases than the case listed above.
[CREATIVE NIGHT SCENERY] is 
selected, [SENSITIVITY] is fixed to 
[ISO100].
When [NIGHT PORTRAIT] is selected, 
the initial setting for [AF MODE] is [ 
 ] 
(face detection).
You cannot set the white balance.
