ELAC is producing two 
thousand examples of this 
excellent loudspeaker, 
which has come out on top 
in tests worldwide and won 
numerous international 
prizes and awards, and also 
incorporated some 
additional technical 
refinements.  
The new upmarket version 
with its high-gloss cherry 
wood cabinet exudes pure 
elegance in design and 
sound quality.  But it is not 
only the outside of the 
limited edition that has been 
enhanced. 
The network has been 
equipped with top-class 
components and the 
internal wiring has been 
carried our with Van den 
Hul cables. All the technical 
refinements, which of 
course all come from 
ELAC's own in-house 
development and 

production facilities, deliver an extraordinarily natural and expansive soundscape. This is a collector's 
piece that you just have to have.  
 
Technical features and characteristics: 

 
Components are used in the BS 243 Limited Edition that simply 
would not be feasible in a standard production run. 

 

For example, only air-core inductors are used, which cannot be 
magnetically saturated and therefore operate without any 
distortion. They are ideal for short-term extremely high loads. Peak 
power fidelity is unbeatable as a result. 

 

 
The large air coil in the crossover network for the woofer is 
mounted on a separate board, so that optimum heat dispersal is 
guaranteed under extreme loads. 
 
The large white foil condenser in the high-frequency section of the 
crossover network is wound from polypropylene (PP-A), and not 
from polyester or even electrolytic foil as is usual in standard 
products. For that reason it offers an extremely long service life 
and durability.

 

 
One other example of the extremely high-quality materials are the 
metal-free internal cables of "Skyline Hybrid" type from the well-
respected Dutch brand Van den Hul.  The use of "Linear 
Structured Carbon ® (L.S.C.)" sets benchmarks in the eternal 
battle against the ageing of wires containing metal. 

 

 
The picture is rounded off by sophisticated ELAC bi-wiring 
terminals. The angled adapter terminals are easily accessible and 
are especially suitable for larger-diameter cables (16 sq mm) and 
high-quality spade terminals (e.g. WBT products).
