 Caution! 
Do not switch off your navigation system during the following process. 
Do not remove the USB storage device until the preparation process is completed. 
a.  Start the navigation system while your vehicle is parked. 
b.  Insert the empty USB storage device into the USB port of your navigation system. 
c.  Press the navigation hardkey button, and in the Navigation Menu, tap 
 and 
. 
d.  Tap Yes on the confirmation screen. The collection of device information starts, and a 
progress bar shows the status of the process. 
e.  Wait until you receive the following message: Device information has been stored 
successfully on the USB storage media. Remove the USB storage device from your 
navigation system. 
3.  Download updates with the Toolbox PC tool. 
a.  Connect the same USB storage device to your PC. 
b.  Start the Toolbox PC tool on your PC and sign in with your Naviextras user name and 
password. 
c.  Use the Toolbox PC tool to download updates and to purchase additional extras at your 
convenience. For instructions on using the Toolbox, see the Toolbox How-to Guides at 
alpine.naviextras.com/shop/portal/support. 
d.  Once the download is complete, remove the USB storage device from the PC. 
4.  Perform the update on your navigation system. 
 Caution! 
Do not switch off your navigation system during the following process. 
Do not remove the USB storage device until the preparation process is completed. 
a.  Start the navigation system while your vehicle is parked, and go to any navigation-related 
screen. 
b.  Insert the USB storage device that now contains the updates into the USB port of your 
navigation system. 
c.  Tap Yes on the confirmation screen. The software update starts, and a progress bar shows 
the status of the process. 
d.  Wait until you receive the following message: The software update has been successfully 
completed. Remove the USB storage device from your navigation system. 
The navigation system will start using the updated maps next time you start the car. 
Note! 
If you switch off the navigation system or remove the USB storage device during the update 
process, it will continue the update on next launch.
