Even if the tablet is turned off, the alarm will automatically turn the tablet back on 
so that it can ring. 

From the 

Set alarms screen, touch Turn alarm on, you can turn alarm on/off. 

From idle mode, simply select 

Apps > calculator… and you’re ready to 

calculate.
