6.2 RS232 Interface
To get connected to the reader through RS232 protocol, you will need to use a RJ45 to DB9
adapter.
Adapters RJ45 female to SUB-DB9 female are available from several distributors. Please
note, that the adapters are preassembled kits only, which must be configured (strapped) by the
customer itself to fit the wiring described below. The modem-signals DCD and RI are not available
across the RJ45.

Plug your RJ45 to DB9 adapter to the serial communication port of your computer, and then
use a standard straight Ethernet cable to connect to the Medio L40 RJ45 RS232 com port.
Alternatively, using a standard Cisco® -style Console cable (RJ-45 to DB9) you can connect
your COM port to the RS232 serial port of your reader.
