Shock Sensor/Transmitter
Installation Instructions
Use the 5800SS1 shock sensor only with alarm systems that support 5800 series wireless devices. The
transmitter has its own unique serial number permanently assigned during manufacture, which must be
entered into the control panel prior to the transmitter’s usage. Refer to the control unit’s installation
instruction for programming details.
Note: During programming of the control unit, 5800SS1 transmitters should be treated as “RF” (i.e.
supervised RF) Type. The 5800SS1 is assigned as one zone.
Mounting
Before mounting the transmitter permanently, conduct Go/No Go tests (see control’s instructions) to verify
adequate signal strength from the mounting location.
1)  Learn serial number as described in the control panel installation instructions. To cause the sensor
to transmit, remove the battery pull tab. For additional transmissions, lightly tap on the base of the
sensor.
2)  Determine mounting location. For best sensitivity, the sensor should be mounted in one inch from
the edge of the window.
3)  Verify range by holding the sensor in the approximate mounting location and tapping on the base.
The panel (in test mode) should respond to the transmissions. If not, find a more suitable mounting
location.
4)  Clean the glass, where the sensor is to be mounted, with a mixture water and isopropyl alcohol.
Once the glass is dry remove the tape backing paper and firmly press the sensor in the desired
mounting location.
5)  Verify operation by striking the opposite edge of the window with the handle of a screwdriver –
check for trip at alarm panel.
