USING YOUR PHONE AS A MODEM
You can use your phone as a modem for data transfer from your laptop,
handheld device, or desktop computer. This is particularly useful when
there is no wired phone line (wall jack) available.
You simply attach an optional data cable to your phone and your
computer. From that point, your phone is your modem. This allows you
to send or receive time-critical information such as e-mail, a field
service report, or files. In addition, you can also send or receive faxes.
This type of wireless connection uses one of two types of data
connection: circuit-switched data and packet data.
• Circuit-switched data is typically used for sending and receiving
handheld device, or desktop computer. This is particularly useful when
there is no wired phone line (wall jack) available.
