Centralized Management of Backup
Environment
• Deployment and Administration.
Automation of traditional data protection
tasks through a web-enabled management
interface allows remote, centralized
management of storage servers. This
helps reduce expenses and operating
errors and simplifies administration.
• Media Management Option. Manage
vaulted media in all locations, including
the library and removed media. This
automates and simplifies the media
management process.
• Support for Working Across Firewalls.
System Port and IP addresses are
configurable (see Figure 1). This allows
communication between two BrightStor
ARCserve Backup servers across firewalls
and simplifies storage administration.
• Accurate Reporting. Helps users make
informed business decisions.
• Extended Hardware Error Handling and
DLTSage Support. BrightStor ARCserve
Backup attempts error correction to
complete backups. Integration with
Distinctive Features and
Functionalities
Multiplexing Capabilities. Multiplexing
enables up to 32 jobs to write to the same
media simultaneously. This allows data
backup without impacting the server or
application and makes efficient use of tape
libraries and media.
Multistreaming. Multiple jobs run
concurrently to multiple tape drives. This
enables full utilization of tape drive
resources and reduces the backup window.
Device Management. Wide range of drives
and libraries supported.
SAN/LAN-Free Backups. Enables the use
of Fibre Channel SANs for backup and
restore. SANs provide high data transfer
throughput and offload backup and restore
traffic from the LAN. SANs also allow
sharing of a tape library among BrightStor
ARCserve Backup servers, which provides
efficient and economical use of the
environment’s tape library.
