The Quantum NDX-8 series NAS products for backup, disaster recovery and primary 
storage solve the problem of out of control backup data growth for the SMB. They 
are the first products to offer deduplication and 8TB of storage at a price point small 
businesses can afford. All four models offer best-in-class performance, featuring 
enterprise-class hard drives, Intel Core i3 (Sandy Bridge) processors, 4GB of RAM 
and Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 operating system. Products are 
available in tower or 1U rack configurations with or without client side deduplication 
data protection software. Both configurations are customer upgradable offering a 
single free PCI-e slot, and RAM expansion capability. The tower unit offers two 5¼” 
peripheral bays—perfect for adding RDX drives for disaster recovery.  

The Quantum NDX-8d NAS storage with DATASTOR Shield deduplication software 
is designed for data backup and disaster recovery in Windows Environments with 
integrated client-side deduplication. Data stored is reduced significantly allowing 
customers to keep two years of backups online or more while reducing network 
traffic by up to 90% because backup data is deduplicated before being sent over the 
network. The Quantum DATASTOR Shield deduplication software is simple to use 
and manage right from the NDX-8d unit, performing agentless backup—there is no 
software to install on clients being backed up.
