Set the PDC mode.
A Press r t to move the arrow to “VPS/PDC”.
B Press PDC to select “ON” or “OFF”.
OR
A Press r t to move the arrow to “VPS/PDC”, then 
press OK.
B Press r t to select the desired setting, then press OK.
● If “VPS/PDC ON” is displayed on the TV screen, PDC is set to 
ON.
● If “VPS/PDC OFF” is displayed on the TV screen, PDC is set to 
OFF.

“PDC Recording” on page 49.
● VPS (Video Programme System) recording is not currently 
available in the U.K. and not possible with this recorder.

Set the WEEKLY/DAILY programme mode.
A Press r t to move the arrow to “WEEKLY/DAILY”, 
then press OK.
B Press r t to select the desire mode, then press OK.
● For details on each mode, see WEEKLY/DAILY programme 
timer settings”(
right column).

Set other options.
A Press r t to move the arrow to the desired option, 
then press OK.
B Set each option as required.
● To modify a programme title, perform steps B and C of 
“Modify Programme Title” (

pg. 57).
● To modify the category option, press

arrow to “EXIT”, then press OK.

Engage the recorder’s timer mode.
● For the HDD deck (with the PDC mode is OFF):
No operation is required to engage the recorder’s mode.
● For the VHS deck and the HDD deck (with the PDC 
mode is ON):
Press 
# (TIMER). The recorder turns off automatically and 
#” appears on the front display panel.
● To disengage the timer mode, press

NOTES:
● During timer recording with “

display panel, it is not possible to change the recording deck 
(HDD or VHS).
● It is not possible to timer-record a TV programme with a

 number which starts with “0”.
WEEKLY/DAILY programme timer settings
● For the HDD deck
When you select a mode other than ONCE, the space on the 
hard disk drive is saved for new recordings by overwriting 
previous recordings. To prevent loss of a needed recording, 
backup programmes you wish to save by dubbing them to 
tape before overwriting previous recordings.
ONCE (One time recording)
In this mode a programme will not be automatically 
overwritten.
WEEKLY (OVERWRITE) (Weekly Recording/Weekly 
Overwrite)
When the set weekly programme is broadcast, the 
programme recorded last week is automatically deleted and 
overwritten by the new programme.
MON-SUN (FOR A WEEK)/ MON-SAT (FOR A WEEK)/ 
MON-FRI (FOR A WEEK)
 (Daily Recording/Weekly 
Overwrite)
When the set weekly programme is broadcast, the 
programme recorded on the same day last week is 
automatically deleted and overwritten by the new 
programme.
MON-SUN (OVERWRITE)/ MON-SAT (OVERWRITE)/ 
MON-FRI (OVERWRITE)
 (Daily Recording/Daily Overwrite)
When the set daily programme is broadcast, yesterday’s 
programme is automatically deleted and overwritten by the 
new programme.

Satellite Receiver Users
To timer-record a satellite broadcast using the VIDEO P
LUS
system:
A Perform “Satellite Receiver Control Setting” on page 18.
B Perform steps A – L. In step F, the front display panel 
shows “L2” for the channel position. In step 
H, you 
cannot set “PDC” to “ON”.
C Leave the satellite receiver’s power on.
