Tandberg SLR140 is the next generation SLR
tape drive based on the highly reliable SLR
technology platform that has gained industry
recognition for its quality and reliability.
Tandberg SLR140 is backwards compatible to
lower capacity tape drives such as SLR100,
SLR75, SLR60, SLR50, SLR40 and SLR7
allowing current and new SLR customers to
migrate from lower to higher performance and
capacity while protecting their investments. The
standard 5.25-inch half height form-factor allows
easy installation and integration into most PC
servers and workstations.
The diverse design-related and software-based
security features like Reed Solomon Error
Correction Code (ECC) Level 10, Tape Alert and
the new Media Management Function make the
Tandberg SLR140 drive extremely reliable.
The Media Management function continuously
analyses and monitors the quality condition of
the magnetic tape. This results in an early detec-
tion of tape contamination or damage and thus
allows an early replacement with a new tape.
A further highlight of the Tandberg SLR140 is the
Auto Sense function. This function automatically
selects the optimum tape speed for the data
transfer rate of the host computer. The data
transfer rate is continuously checked even at low
transfer speeds in order to avoid unnecessary
tape stops and restarts. These processes are
dynamically controlled by the data buffer.
The Tandberg SLR140 is available separately as
an external or internal drive and as part of a
complete solution. The bundle includes the data
backup software BrightStor ARCserve for a
Windows Server or a Novell NetWare
Workstation backup.
The Tandberg SLR140 tape drive is available 
in internal and external configurations and also
as complete turnkey solutions, which include
award-winning server Computer Associates
BrightStor ARCserve application software for
Windows Server and Novell Netware platforms.
