CARBON FIBRE
MATERIAL FEATURES
the carbon fibre is commonly used in different types of applications. the extra-
ordinary mechanical features are common exploited. As far as the radiators are
concerned the carbon fibre is used for its electrical properties.
MATERIAL TECHNOLOGY
the carbon fibre heating element structure is composed by a basketwork of fila-
ments having a carbon core and a surface nickel coating increasing the chemical
agent resistance capacity.
According to the thickness of carbon covering the thermal inertia, the electrical
resistance, the weight and the mechanical properties change.
the carbon fibre heating elements have these two main advantages if compared to
the traditional resistive elements or tungsten filament:
- 98% of the absorbed energy is emitted as infrared radiation (very high efficiency);
- the particularly low infrared frequencies have a double capacity to penetrate
deeper into the human body (up to 4-5 cm) and to stimulate profitable the
  metabolism.
Another very important feature (even essential in the aerospace field) is that a local
breaking does not cause malfunction of the appliance or the bust of the heating
element (as it happens with the tungsten filament).
Last two advantages: lightness and very low thermal inertia.
