New workload optimized models for SAP HANA provide optimal solutions for SAP

HANA applications. The IBM® System x3950 X5: Workload Optimized Solution for

SAP HANA models offers a preinstalled, optimized appliance starting with the 2-

processor and 4-processor x3950 X5 models, and a model which enables scalability

to eight processors with up to 1 TB of memory.

These models also include the following software: SUSE Linux

TM

 Enterprise Server for

SAP Applications operating system with 3-year SUSE priority support and the IBM
General Parallel File System ( GPFS

TM

 ) on x86 Single Server for Integrated Offerings

with 3-year software subscription and support.

Note: The SAP HANA software is included, but is sold separately by SAP.

New IBM System x3950 X5: Workload Optimized Solution models incorporate high-
performance, 10-core Intel Xeon

TM

 processors and include:

• Optimization for SAP HANA memory sizes of 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB using

high-speed, lower-power PC3-10600 ECC double data rate 3 (DDR3) SDRAM

system memory

• eXA scaling with dual node systems for performance scaling up to eight sockets
• Two dual port 10 Gb Ethernet and six 1 Gb Ethernet ports
• Seven 5.0 Gb PCIe I/O (one x16, five x8, one x4) sockets
• Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) controller
• Eight 900 GB 2.5-inch hot-swap hard disks
