Starting with the source of the fibre used to make
the paper, through its manufacture and use, we
strive to minimise environmental impact while
meeting your exacting business needs.

Over ten
years ago, we adopted an environmental position
on sourcing paper. The position states that our goal
is to source paper from companies committed to
sound environment, health and safety practices and
sound environmental management. These stringent
requirements cover all aspects of papermaking, from
forest management to production of finished goods.
Our standards ensure:
•  commitment to compliance with all applicable environment, health and safety regulatory
requirements, including forestry codes of practice and regulations governing legal

harvesting of wood.
•  an effective mill environmental management system and objectives for continual

improvement in environmental performance above and beyond regulatory compliance.
•  performance guaranteed
Our effective procurement process:
•  ensures the exclusion of illegally harvested wood raw materials.
•  ensures the exclusion of wood raw materials derived from forest areas of significant
ecological or cultural importance, unless certified to our accepted sustainable forest
management standards.
•  encourages all suppliers of wood raw materials to practice sustainable forest management.
•  strictly limits the use of hazardous materials, including exclusion of elemental chlorine,
in the processing and content of our papers.
These standards enabled us to gain certification by other outside independent groups to ensure
that our papers not only meet our high standards, but meet the requirements of these cross-
industry governing bodies. Xerox were one of the first paper providers to be awarded multi-site
certification of all of our paper sales and distribution sites across Europe and North America.
Sustainability and Certification
Chain of Custody
Chain of Custody (CoC) is the path taken
by the raw materials harvested from
a certified forest all the way through
processing, production, distribution and
printing until it is a final product to be sold
to an end customer.
We are proud to have earned CoC
certification from the following
organisations:
Programme for the
Endorsement of Forest
Certification
The Programme for the Endorsement
of Forest Certification (PEFC) Council
is an independent, non-profit, non-
governmental organisation, which
promotes sustainably managed forests
through independent third party
certification. PEFC provides an assurance
mechanism to purchasers of wood and
paper products that they are promoting
the sustainable management of forests.
PEFC offers customers a badge of
sustainability as requested by many end
users, as proof of corporately responsible
purchasing.
Forest Stewardship Council
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is
an international network, which promotes
responsible management of the world’s
forests. It accredits independent third
party organisations to FSC standards
to ensure well managed forestry. Its
trademark provides international
recognition to organisations that
support the growth of responsible forest
management.
The FSC trademark can be displayed on
products containing a mix of FSC certified,
recycled and controlled fibre.
