Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a StarTech.com S-Video and
Audio over Cat5 Extender. This product offers a cost effec-
tive way to connect S-Video devices and RCA component
audio using Cat5 cable.
Features
• Extend S-Video signals up to 200 meters
• No software or power adapter required
• Works with Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) and 
Untwisted Pair (UTP cable)

Basic Setup
1. Connect the S-Video cable to the output on the back of 
the audio/video source.
2. Connect the opposite end of the S-Video cable used in 
Step 1 to the SVIDUTPEXT local unit (marked VIDEO).
3. Connect an audio RCA component cable to the output 
ports located on the audio/video source.
4. Connect the opposite end of the component audio cable 
to the audio ports on the local SVIDUTPEXT unit 
(marked as L - Audio - R).
5. Connect the Cat5 cable to the RJ45 port on the local
SVIDUTPEXT unit.
6. Connect the opposite end of the Cat5 cable to the 
RJ45 port on the remote SVIDUTPEXT unit.
7. Connect a second S-Video cable to the designated port 
on the remote SVIDUTPEXT unit (marked VIDEO).
8. Connect the remaining end of the second S-Video cable 
to the monitor/display. For further instructions on how to 
locate the S-Video port, please refer to the 
documentation that accompanied the display at the time 
of purchase.
9. Connect an audio RCA component cable to the audio 
ports located on the remote SVIDUTPEXT unit.
10.Connect the opposite end of the component audio cable 
to the audio output ports located on the audio output 
device (i.e. Stereo receiver, television etc.)
