CA Desktop DNA Migrator gives you the 
power, control and flexibility to manage a 
migration that will meet your unique 
needs. The user-friendly Wizard interface 
easily guides you through a migration 
process and the convenient undo file 
allows you to restore your original system 
with a click of your mouse.  

CA Desktop DNA Migrator gives you the 
flexibility to complete a typical migration 
of your most popular settings and data in 
just a few easy steps or you may 
customize the process to meet your 
unique migration needs. In addition, CA 
Desktop DNA Migrator allows you to 
quickly stream your PC’s DNA directly 
from your old PC to your new PC using 
an Ethernet crossover cable or create a 
DNA file to transfer to your new PC or use 
for backup.

Distinctive Features 
and Functionalities 

Flexible Migration Methods. Flexibility is 
critical to supporting migrations. For this 
reason, CA Desktop DNA Migrator was 
the first migration tool to offer two major 
system migration methods.  

•  Real-Time Migration. A Real-Time 

migration quickly streams your DNA 

information directly from your old PC to 

your new PC. Performing a Real-Time 

migration requires the two computers 

you wish to migrate are connected to 

each other by a local area network 

(LAN) or the included Ethernet 

crossover cable.  

•  Deferred Migration. A Deferred 

migration creates a DNA file containing 

your unique PC’s DNA. You can then 

burn your DNA file to a CD, DVD or 

move to a network location to easily 

transfer the DNA file to your new PC. 

Simply double-click the DNA file to 

apply your DNA to the destination PC 

or keep it for PC back-up or future 

migration.  

Migration Type. CA Desktop DNA 
Migrator offers two different migration 
types, allowing you to simply choose the 
type that best meets your unique 
migration needs.  

•  Typical Migration. A Typical migration 

takes the guesswork out of migrations

transferred. With a few clicks of your 

mouse, you can perform a complete 

migration.  

•  Custom Migration. A Custom 

migration takes power, control and 

flexibility even further by giving you the 

options to customize the settings and 

data you wish to migrate for your 

special migration needs.  

Cross-Operating System and 
Application Migration. The settings you 
have customized on your old PC and in 
the older versions of your applications will 

seamlessly migrate to the new version of 
the operating system and applications. 
This time saving feature will prevent you 
from trying to figure out where to set your 
customizations in the new locations, 
saving you time and effort.  

Self-Extracting Files. If you select to 
perform a deferred migration, a self-
extracting DNA file will be created, 
allowing you to transfer the DNA file to 
your new PC over a network or burn it to 
a CD-ROM or DVD. Once the DNA file is 
on your new PC, simply double-click on 
the file and the migration will take place 
automatically, transferring your DNA to 
your new PC.  

Migration Progress. Never loose your 
place! The Migration Status on the left 
side of the screen always lets you know 
where you are in your migration process.  

Summary Screens. A comprehensive 
logging feature tracks the success of the 
migration and monitors the overall 
progress of the migration process. From 
the Summary screen, you are able to tell 
if there were any errors in your migration.
