Oracle Human Resources Management, Financials,
and Database applications went live in April. The
E-Business Suite ultimately will be used in all operating
units by nearly 700 personnel, and potentially more
when Oando acquires more facilities. Plus, plans are
underway to allow some 200 suppliers access to the
system. Over the next few months, the staff will migrate
the company’s trading, gasoline usage and billing, tax
calculation, and inventory management systems.
Lawal is pleased the combined Oracle-Integrity
platform will provide the scalability the company
anticipates needing as it expands. “One of the
advantages of choosing the newest Integrity servers is
to gain the performance we need now and scalability
as we grow. We can segment an Integrity server into
different partitions, so it’s easy for our staff to optimize
server performance for certain applications. Later, we
can automatically add more processing capacity to
these servers and take advantage of HP virtualization
technologies,” he comments.
Fueling innovation
The new IT architecture will drive innovation throughout
the business. For example, instead of maintaining
Excel spreadsheets and paper-based employee files,
Oando will allow employees to update personal
information in their own master profiles securely via
Oracle Self-Service HR. This new procedure will relieve
the load on HR personnel and, perhaps, stem the need
to add HR staff as the workforce grows. It will also
bring higher levels of productivity and efficiency to the
human resources function.
For the company’s financial operations, Lawal expects
to cut the time needed to close the books each
month—which previously took up to three weeks—by
70 percent. “With an integrated system, we’ll be able
to get timely reports and fast access to data and
product information, which can help us make smart
business decisions,” he says.
