The transfl ective displays technology contains a combination of-
both the conventional backlight transmissive mode as well as re-
fl ective mode characteristics. By using a rear refl ector, sunlight
refl ections increase the display’s brightness. In case of darker
ambient light conditions the backlight ensures the required dis-
play brightness. By the use of the ambient light for increasing
the brightness, the power consumption of the backlight will be
reduced and less heat is generated. This leads to a longer lifetime
of the display.
