Imation Internal Floppy Disk Drive Installation Instructions
Caution:  Power off your computer and unplug it from the AC Power source before
installing the Floppy drive.  Failure to do so may result in electric shock.
1.  Power off and unplug the computer. 
2.  Detach all devices, e.g., printer, keyboard, monitor.
3.  Remove the computer cover.  Refer to your computer system manual.
4.  If you are replacing an existing drive, note how the drive is connected.  For installation of a
second drive or a new drive, go to Step 11.
5.  Unplug the four pin power cable and the 34 pin flat interface cable.
6.  Remove the screws mounting the old drive and carefully remove the unit.
7.  Mount the Imation floppy drive using the screws supplied with the kit.
8.  Attach the existing flat interface cable making certain that the red wire, Pin 1, is closest to
the motor, near the center rear of the drive, as shown in Figure A.
9.  Plug the four wire power connector to the drive to complete the installation.
10.  Replace the computer cover and reconnect any peripherals.

Additional drive installation instructions:
11.  For a second drive, complete Steps 1 to 3 above.
12.  Remove a floppy disk filler panel at the front of the computer unit.
13.  Determine that the interface cable to your existing floppy drive has a second connector near
the attached drive.  If not, substitute the three-connector interface cable shipped with the
Imation kit.
14.  Using the screws enclosed in the kit, mount the Imation floppy drive in the space in the
computer.  If your computer does not have an extra floppy bay, you will need to acquire a
floppy drive to 5.25-inch bay adapter panel from your computer supplier.
15.  Connect the cable to the floppy drives with the red stripe closest to the motor assembly as
shown in Figure A above.
16.  The floppy drive attached to the end connector will appear as Drive A in My Computer or
Windows Explorer.  The drive attached to the second connector from the end will appear as
Drive B.
