Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess 4306G and OmniAccess 4306GW
Branch Office WLAN Switches
The Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess
4306G and OmniAccess 4306GW Branch Office WLAN switches are compact,
cost effective and support the identical advanced wireless services that a campus WLAN switch offers. In addi-
tion, the OmniAccess 4306G and OmniAccess 4306GW go beyond pure wireless services by providing built-in
print and file servers and secured Ethernet connectivity. The OmniAccess wireless centralized configuration and
management model enables the OmniAccess 4306G and OmniAccess 4306GW to be deployed, monitored,
and controlled without any local IT staff.
The OmniAccess 4306G and
OmniAccess 4306GW support eight
Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE+
capability, four USB ports, and all the
advanced wireless services that the
larger OmniAccess WLAN switches
provide. The OmniAccess 4306GW also
includes an integrated 802.11a/b/g/n
access point. The OmniAccess 4306G
and OmniAccess 4306GW offer leading
edge VoWLAN capabilities, which
make them ideal for deployment of
Alcatel-Lucent IP Touch
 Wireless LAN
handsets, dual mode smart phones
and mobile communication applica-
tions. The OmniAccess 4306G and
OmniAccess 4306GW are also the first
OmniAccess WLAN switches with 3G
capability. The 3G link can be used to
connect to the Internet, to connect
back to a centralized WLAN switch or
as a back-up connection.
FEATURES
BENEFITS
Zero-touch remote deployment and management
Saves time and lowers costs because installation can be performed by non-IT personnel while complex
management tasks are performed from a central location by a remote IT team.
USB ports for network connection of storage
devices or printers
USB ports can be used to connect storage devices or printers. These devices are then accessible anywhere
in the branch network.
3G connectivity
3G connectivity allows the rapid set-up of a branch network when no wired connection (e.g., DSL) is available, or
could be used as a back-up connection in case of primary wired link failure.
Built-in access point
The OmniAccess 4306GW includes an integrated dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n wireless access point. This access
point can be used to cost effectively provide connectivity services to 802.11 clients. It can also be used as a
mesh portal to quickly deploy a branch WLAN infrastructure without pulling Ethernet cable to the access points
in the network.
Dynamic radio frequency (RF) management
Provides analysis of the RF environment to facilitate the deployment of self tuning access points and to
fine-tune the operation of the network with virtual real-time site surveys.
Integrated wireless intrusion prevention
Integrates both wireless networking and wireless intrusion detection and prevention (IDS/IPS) thus reducing
the cost of the wireless infrastructure and its operation.
User-centric security with stateful firewall
Role-based security reduces the network management burden by preventing unauthenticated users from
accessing the corporate wireless network while safely supporting guest users, contractors, and corporate users.
Quality of service
Improves voice quality through the support of quality of service (QoS) mechanisms such as Wi-Fi multimedia
(WMM), differentiated services code point (DSCP) marking and prioritization, and connection admission control
(CAC).
Extended battery life for voice devices
Improves battery life of mobile devices such as the Alcatel-Lucent IP Touch Wireless LAN handsets with
standard protocols including IEEE 802.11e - U-APSD.
