McPC Series Media Converters are ideal for Fiber-to-the-Desktop applications 

and for companies with frequent workstation moves and changes. Installing 

inside a PC or workstation, and plugging into adjacent network interface cards 

(NIC), these compact units eliminate the need to place Media Converters on top 

of desks or computers, reducing clutter of cords and adapters at the workspace.
The McPC series includes:

• McPC 10 Mbps Converters: Convert 10 Mbps twisted pair to 10 Mbps  

coax   

• McPC 100 Mbps Converters: Convert 100 Mbps twisted pair to 100 Mbps 

fiber 

• McPC TP-TX/FX, Switching Converters: Convert 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps 

twisted pair to 100 Mbps fiber; plug-and-play operation, no configuration 

necessary 

• McPC-Gigabit 1000 Mbps Converters: Convert 1000 Mbps twisted pair to 

1000 Mbps fiber.

Most  McPC  converters  include  troubleshooting  features  that  make  isolating  fiber 

breaks easier should they occur.  Most McPC converters also feature AutoCross for 

automatically selecting the correct operating mode based on the type of crossover/

pass-through cable, switch-selectable termination for BNC ports, and LEDs that assist 

in network diagnostics and troubleshooting.  McPC-Gigabit units are even available for 

single-strand fiber which can effectively double the capacity of fiber by allowing two 

individual channels to share one strand of fiber; Full-Duplex data travels on different 

wavelengths: 1310 nm and 1550 nm.

Autonegotiating 10/100 Mbps McPC converters offer significant advantages over 

regular 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps converters.  An ideal choice for both enterprise 

and  service  provider  networks,  10/100  converters  save  time  and  money  when 

deployed  at  the  host  and  remote  site.    Legacy  Enterprise  networks  preparing 

to migrate from 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps can deploy autonegotiating converters, 

then upgrade when ready and units will automatically adapt to increased speed. 

Service providers with 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps links to customer premises can sell 

customers more bandwidth without upgrading the converters at the POP and the 

customer network edge.
