N Using the Flash (Intelligent Flash)

 Focus.

Press the shutter button halfway to focus.  If the flash will fire, 

p will be displayed when 

the shutter button is pressed halfway.  At slow shutter speeds, 

k will appear in the 

display to warn that pictures may be blurred; use of a tripod is recommended.

 Shoot.

Press the shutter button the rest of the way down to shoot.

The flash may fire several times with each shot.  Do not move the camera until shooting is com-
plete.

The peripheral part of an image may be dark when using the flash.

P 35), and ON is selected for B RED EYE REMOVAL in 

the setup menu (

P 98), red-eye removal is available in

Red-eye removal minimizes “red-eye” caused when light from the flash is reflected from the subject’s 
retinas as shown in the illustration at right.
