Congratulations on your purchase on this passive infrared alarm unit ! 
This stand-alone alarm unit will help you protect and safeguard 
almost any location you want. It’s easy to install and totally wireless.

Sensor  Alarm Unit, remote Control, instructions, mounting bracket 
and batteries.

The PIR sensor is a passive infrared motion sensor, meaning it detects 
infrared radiation rather than projecting it (unlike a security camera 
with infrared night vision, which is active infrared). All objects emit 
this infrared radiation (we commonly call it “heat”) and the infrared 
sensor looks for any of this radiation which moves. The passive sensor 
is not infallible – in particular, it cannot detect objects/people which 
are the same temperature as their background. So a human being 
moving about on an extremely hot day might go unnoticed. Also, a 
security camera with active infrared night vision in the same vicinity as 
the infrared sensor may give false alarms (particularly if it is a moving 
PTZ system)

When the batteries in the alarm unit are running out, the LED on the 
front of the alarm unit will flash slowly (more slowly than during the 
arming delay). If the LED starts flashing in this way, change the 
batteries immediately.

•   Remove the sensor from its mounting bracket.
•   On the rear side of the sensor, locate the battery compartment.
•   Remove batteries
•   Insert three fresh AA batteries. Do not mix battery types, and do 
  not use rechargeable batteries.

If you find that the remote control isn’t operating properly, this 
indicates that the remote control might need to be paired up again 
with the alarm unit. This is most likely to happen when the batteries 
are changed in the alarm unit - the temporary lack of power clears 
the sensor’s memory.
1.  Remove the alarm unit from the mounting bracket.
2.  Locate and push the button on the rear of the unit labeled 
  “LEARN”. The button is recessed, so you’ll need a thin 
  screwdriver or similar to push it.
3.  The LED on the front of the alarm unit will flash slowly, indicating 
  that the sensor is in Learning Mode.
4.  Press any button on the remote control. The alarm unit will beep 
  to confirm the pairing worked.

Sensor alarm, montagebeugel, afstandsbediening, batterijen en
instructies

De PIR-sensor is een passieve infrarood bewegingssensor. Dit wil 
zeggen dat hij infrarood straling detecteert in plaats van projecteert 
(in tegenstelling tot een beveiligingscamera met infrarood nachtzicht, 
deze is actief infrarood).  Alle objecten zenden deze infrarood straling 
uit (dit wordt meestal “warmte” genoemd) en de infrarood sensor zoekt 
naar straling die beweegt. De passieve sensor is niet onfeilbaar - zo 
kan hij bijvoorbeeld geen objecten/mensen detecteren die dezelfde 
temperatuur hebben als hun achtergrond. Een persoon die dus op 
een extreem warme dag voorbijkomt wordt mogelijk niet opgemerkt.  
Bovendien kan een beveiligingscamera met actief infrarood 
nachtzicht in de nabijheid van de infrarood sensor valse alarmen 
geven (in het bijzonder als het gaat om een bewegend PTZ-systeem).

Als de batterijen in het plafondalarm leeg raken, knippert de LED aan 
de voorkant van het plafondalarm langzaam (langzamer dan tijdens 
de uitloopvertraging). Als de LED op deze manier begint te knippe-
ren, moeten de batterijen worden vervangen.

•   Verwijder de sensor uit de montagebeugel.
•   Zoek op de achterkant van de sensor het batterijvak.
•   Verwijder de batterijen.
•   Voer drie nieuwe AA batterijen in. Zorg ervoor dat u geen 
  verschillende batterijtypes mengt en gebruik geen oplaadbare 
 batterijen.

Als u merkt dat de afstandsbediening niet correct werkt, dan wijst 
dat erop dat de afstandsbediening misschien opnieuw aan het  
plafondalarm gekoppeld moet worden. Dit gebeurt meestal als de 
batterijen in de alarmeenheid vervangen zijn (het tijdelijke gebrek aan 
stroom wist het geheugen van de sensor).
1.  Verwijder de alarmeenheid van de montagebeugel.
2.  Zoek en druk op de knop met het label “LEARN” aan de 

achterkant van het alarm. De knop zit ingesprongen, dus u heeft 
een dunne schroevendraaier of iets gelijkwaardigs nodig om erop 
te drukken.

3.  De LED aan de voorkant van het plafondalarm knippert langzaam, 

wat erop duidt dat de sensor zich in de modus Learn bevindt.

4.  Druk op een willekeurige knop op de afstandsbediening. Het 

plafondalarm piept om te bevestigen dat de koppeling is gelukt.

ALARM / CHIME MODE
The switch to select the mode the sensor operates can be found on 
the side of the remote control, as shown to the left.
Alarm Mode: When the sensor detects movement whilst the unit is 
in alarm mode, it will not activate immediately. There is a thirty 
seconds delay, to allow you to use the remote control to disarm the 
sensor before it goes off. If the alarm unit is not disarmed within this 
thirty seconds delay, then the alarm will sound at full volume. The 
alarm can still be disarmed whilst the alarm is sounding by pressing 
the disarm button on the remote control.

Chime Mode: When the sensor detects movement when in chime 
mode, it will sound a chime instantly.
There is no entry delay nor exit delay. After the chime sounds, there 
is a short (a few seconds) delay before it can be sounded again to 
prevent is sounding constantly if, for example, someone were to be 
standing in the detection range.

To arm the system, simply press ARM on the remote control. The 
system will arm into whichever mode is currently selected on the 
remote control. To disarm the system, press the DISARM button. The 
DISARM button will disarm the alarm unit whether it is in Chime 
Mode or Alarm Mode.

Entry and Exit Delays
Once you’ve armed the alarm unit, it will enter the arming delay. This 
period consists of forty-five seconds, during which time the LED on 
the front face of the alarm unit will flash. After the arming delay has 
elapsed, the alarm unit will beep once, indicating that it is armed.
Should the alarm be tripped (that is, it detects something) it will not 
sound instantly. Rather, there is a further thirty seconds delay, to give 
you time to disarm the system before the siren sounds.
•   Do not expose any part of the alarm unit to any sudden shocks 

(such as being dropped or struck).

•   Do not install the passive infrared (PIR) alarm unit within detection 

range of any device which emits heat or cold, such as air 
conditioners, refrigerators, ovens, heaters, microwaves or other 
electronic equipment which generates heat as a by-product of 
operation.

•   Do not install the PIR sensor in direct sunlight.
•   Don’t use reachargeable batteries.
•   All components are for indoor use only. Do not install outdoors.
•   Test the alarm periodically (every 1 - 2 months and each time you 

change the batteries) to ensure it is working properly.

•   Keep this operating instruction booklet in a safe place.
•   This alarm system is designed to be, and acts as, a theft 

deterrent. This system, like any other, cannot offer complete 
protection for your home or business - it is simply an alarm 
system. Like all practical systems, it has limitations and it could 
be disabled by a skilled intruder. We suggest that you avoid 
relying solely on the Ceiling Alarm to protect your property, but 
use it as part of a comprehensive security solution. You can 
increase your level of protection through the use of high-quality 
locks, stronger doors, guards for your windows and a CCTV 
system and recording devices.

Detection Area
The PIR sensor has a 360 degree detection field horizontally, and 
slightly more than 100 degrees vertically. The diagram below shows 
an average detection pattern under typical circumstances. The 
effective detection area does depend on the height of the ceiling that 
the alarm unit is mounted on. As a general rule, the effective 
detection radius when mounted on a ceiling of average height is 
approximately 9ft/3m.

You can test the functionality of the motion sensor as well as the 
detection area by setting up the sensor, setting it to chime mode and 
then moving about in the area you want to protect. It will chime each 
time it detects movement, allowing you to obtain an accurate 
impression of it’s field of view. Note that the effective detection range 
may change in different environmental conditions, particularly during 
very hot periods.

ALARM-/BELMODUS
De schakelaar om de modus te selecteren waarin de sensor werkt, is 
terug te vinden aan de zijkant van de afstandsbediening, zoals links 
weergegeven.
Alarmmodus: Als de sensor beweging detecteert terwijl de eenheid 
zich in alarmmodus bevindt, zal het alarm niet onmiddellijk geacti-
veerd worden.  Er is een inloopvertraging van dertig seconden om u 
de tijd te geven de afstandsbediening te gebruiken om de sensor uit 
te schakelen alvorens het alarm afgaat.  Indien de alarmeenheid niet 
binnen deze tijd van dertig seconden wordt uitgeschakeld, zal het 
alarm op volledig volume weerklinken. Het alarm kan nog uitgescha-
keld worden terwijl het alarm weerklinkt door DISARM op de 
afstandsbediening in te drukken.
Belmodus: Als de sensor beweging detecteert terwijl hij zich in 
belmodus bevindt, zal het alarm onmiddellijk een belgeluid weergeven.
Er is geen inloop- of uitloopvertraging. Na de belgeluiden is er een 
korte vertraging (van een paar seconden) alvorens de bel opnieuw 
kan weerklinken om te vermijden dat deze constant weerklinkt als 
iemand bijvoorbeeld in het detectiebereik staat.

Om het systeem in te schakelen, drukt u op  ARM op de afstandsbe-
diening. Het systeem zal blijven staan in de modus die op dat 
ogenblik op de afstandsbediening is geselecteerd.
Om het systeem  uit te schakelen, drukt u op de knop DISARM. De 
knop DISARM schakelt het alarm uit, ongeacht of het zich in 
belmodus of alarmmodus bevindt.

Zodra u het plafondalarm ingeschakeld heeft, voert het de uitloopver-
traging in.  Deze periode bestaat uit vijfenveertig seconden. 
Ondertussen blijft  de LED aan de voorkant van het alarm knipperen. 
Nadat de uitloopvertraging verstreken is, piept het alarm eenmaal om 
aan te geven dat het ingeschakeld is. Als het alarm geactiveerd wordt 
(als het iets detecteert), zal het alarm niet onmiddellijk weerklinken. Er 
is een inloopvertraging van dertig seconden om u de tijd te geven het 
systeem uit te schakelen alvorens het alarm weerklinkt.

•   Stel geen enkel deel van de alarmeenheid bloot aan plotselinge 

schokken (zoals laten vallen of erop slaan).

•   Installeer het sensor alarm niet binnen het detectiebereik van een 

toestel dat warmte of koude uitstraalt, zoals luchtbehandelings-
systemen, koelkasten, ovens,  verwarmingen,  magnetrons of 
andere elektronische apparaten die warmte genereren voor het 
gebruik.

•   Installeer de sensor niet in rechtstreeks zonlicht.
•   Gebruik geen oplaadbare batterijen.
•   Alle onderdelen zijn enkel bedoeld voor gebruik binnenshuis. Niet 

buitenshuis installeren.

•   Test het alarm  regelmatig (om de 1 - 2 maanden en telkens 

wanneer u de batterijen vervangt) om te controleren of de eenheid 
juist werkt.

•   Bewaar deze gebruikershandleiding op een veilige plaats.
•   Dit alarmsysteem is ontworpen om dieven af te schrikken. Dit 

systeem kan, zoals ieder ander systeem, geen volledige 
bescherming bieden voor uw huis of zaak.  Zoals alle praktische 
systemen heeft het beperkingen en kan het uitgeschakeld worden 
door een deskundige indringer.  Wij stellen daarom voor dat u niet 
alleen op het plafondalarm vertrouwt om uw eigendom te 
beschermen, maar het gebruikt als onderdeel van een allesomvat-
tende beveiliging.  U kunt u het beveiligingsniveau verhogen door 
het gebruik van kwalitatief hoogstaande sloten, sterkere deuren, 
raambeveiligingen en een CCTV-systeem en opnameapparatuur.

Detectiezone
De PIR-sensor heeft horizontaal een detectiezone van 360 graden en 
verticaal iets meer dan 100 graden.  De tekening hierna toont een 

gemiddeld detectiepa-

De effectieve detectie-

gemonteerd. Als algemene regel bedraagt de effectieve detectieradius 
bij montage op een plafond van gemiddelde hoogte ongeveer 9ft/3m.
U kunt de werking van de bewegingssensor alsook de detectiezone 
testen door de sensor op te stellen, in belmodus te zetten en dan te 
bewegen in de zone die u wilt beveiligen. Het alarm zal telkens 
wanneer het beweging detecteert afgaan, waardoor u een nauwkeu-
rige indruk krijgt van zijn gezichtsveld. Houd er rekening mee dat de 
effectieve detectiezone in verschillende omgevingsomstandigheden 
kan verschillen, vooral tijdens heel warme periodes.

Important:
•   Any obstructions in the environment will reduce the sensors 

effectiveness. It can’t see through walls! Even a thin sheet of glass 
will significantly impair the range of the sensor, as glass blocks 
more infrared radiation than visible light.

•   Small animals (such as dogs, cats or similar) can trigger the PIR 

sensors. Therefore, we suggest that the PIR sensors are not 
suited to areas where pets are kept.

•   The remote control uses infrared light to communicate with the 

alarm unit. For the easiest day-to-day operation of the alarm, 
mount the alarm unit in a location which allows the remote control 
a clear line of sight from the position you’d like to disarm it from.

MOUNTING
To mount the PIR alarm unit, you’ll need the following tools:
•   A screwdriver
•   A drill (for hardwood or masonry)

The PIR alarm unit should be mounted on a ceiling between 6ft/2m 
and 9ft/3m high for maximum coverage and reliability. Do not mount 
the PIR on a ceiling higher than 4m, as the sensor’s range will not 
reach the ground, and will not be able to detect the heat of a single 
human body reliably.

You could conceivably mount the alarm unit on a wall. The alarm 
would still work, though the field of view isn’t particularly suited to 
this application. Under most circumstances, a more focused PIR 
sensor designed to be wall mounted would be more appropriate for 
that purpose.

To mount the alarm unit
The PIR sensor mounts in much the same way as a cordless smoke 
alarm. A circular bracket is attached to the ceiling by screws, and 
then the main alarm unit is attached to this bracket.
1.  First attach the mounting bracket to a ceiling, using the supplied 

screws. If mounting on to hardwood, you may need to drill guide 
holes. If mounting onto masonry (brick, concrete and so on) you’ll 
need a drill with a masonry drill bit, and use the wall plugs 
included with the alarm unit.

2.  Push the alarm unit onto the mounting bracket. Turn clockwise to 

secure in place.

To clean the unit housing, use a soft cloth slightly dampened with 
water and wipe dry. Do not use chemical agents as this may damage 
and discolor the unit.

Warning:
Risk of personal injury
•  Prolonged exposure to alarm siren may cause permanent hearing 
 loss.

Battery Warning:
•  Remove batteries before storing the Alarm for extended periods.
•  Batteries may leak harmful liquids or ignitable materials or 
  explode causing injury and product damage.
•  Do not mix old and new or other battery types.
•  Replace all batteries at the same time.
•  Replace fully discharged batteries immediately.
•  Do not put the button cells in your mouth as this could impair your 
  health. Keep out of reach of young children as they could swallow 
  these and choke.

At the end of their useful life the packaging and product 
should be disposed of via a suitable Recycling Centre.

Do not dispose of with your normal household waste.

Belangrijk:
•   Eventuele obstakels in de omgeving verminderen de efficiëntie 

van de sensor. De sensor kan niet door muren kijken! Zelfs een 
dun stukje glas kan het bereik van de sensor behoorlijk beïnvloe-
den, aangezien glas meer infrarood straling blokkeert dan 
zichtbaar licht.

•   Kleine huisdieren (zoals honden, katten of dergelijke) kunnen de 

PIR-sensors activeren. Daarom geven wij aan dat de PIR-sensors 
niet geschikt zijn voor plaatsen waar dieren worden gehouden.

•   De afstandsbediening maakt gebruik van infrarood licht om met 

het plafondalarm te communiceren. Voor de meest eenvoudige 
dagelijkse werking van het alarm monteert u het plafondalarm op 
een plaats waar de afstandsbediening een duidelijke verbindings-
lijn heeft met de positie waaruit u het wilt ontgrendelen. 

MONTAGE
Om het PIR-alarm te monteren hebt u het volgende gereedschap 
nodig:
•  een schroevendraaier
•   een boor (voor hardhout of steen)
Het PIR-alarm moet voor maximale dekking en betrouwbaarheid 
gemonteerd worden op een plafond tussen 6ft/2m  en 9ft/3m hoog.
Monteer het PIR-alarm niet op een plafond dat hoger is dan 4m 
aangezien het bereik van de sensor dan de grond niet bereikt en de 
warmte van een mens niet op betrouwbare wijze kan detecteren.
U kunt de alarmeenheid eventueel  monteren op een muur. Het alarm 
zal nog steeds werken, hoewel het bereik van het beeld niet 
bijzonder geschikt is voor deze toepassing. Onder de meeste 
omstandigheden zal een meer gerichte PIR-sensor ontworpen voor 
montage op de muur geschikter zijn voor dit doeleinde. 

Het alarm monteren
De PIR-sensor wordt op ongeveer dezelfde wijze geïnstalleerd als 
een draadloos brandalarm. Een ronde beugel wordt bevestigd op het 
plafond door middel van schroeven en vervolgens wordt het 
plafondalarm aan deze beugel bevestigd.
1.  Maak eerst de montagebeugel vast aan het plafond door middel 

van de meegeleverde schroeven. Bij montage op hardhout moet u 
eventueel richtgaten boren.  Bij montage op steen (baksteen, 
beton, enz.) hebt u een boor nodig met een steenboorbit en moet 
u de muurpluggen gebruiken die met het plafondalarm worden 
meegeleverd.

2.  Duw het plafondalarm in de montagebeugel. Draai deze met de 

wijzers van de klok mee om op zijn plaats vast te zetten.

Om de behuizing van het plafondalarm te reinigen gebruikt u een 
zachte, enigszins vochtige doek en veegt u vervolgens het alarm 
droog. Gebruik geen chemische middelen want deze kunnen het 
plafondalarm beschadigen en doen verkleuren.
Waarschuwing:
Risico op persoonlijk letsel
•  Langdurige blootstelling aan het alarmsignaal kan leiden tot 

permanente gehoorschade.

Batterijwaarschuwing:
•  Verwijder de batterijen alvorens het alarm gedurende langere tijd 

op te slaan.

•  Batterijen kunnen schadelijke vloeistoffen of ontvlambaar 

materiaal lekken of ontploffen, waardoor letsels en productschade 
kunnen ontstaan.

•  Meng geen oude en nieuwe batterijen of verschillende batterijtypes.
•  Vervang alle batterijen tegelijkertijd.
•  Vervang volledig lege batterijen onmiddellijk.
•  Neem de knoopcellen niet in de mond want dit kan uw gezond-

heid schaden. Buiten bereik van jonge kinderen houden.

Afstandsbediening werkt niet
•  Batterijen bijna leeg, leeg, ontbreken of onjuist geplaatst.
•  Infraroodtransmitter van de LED verduisterd.
•  Afstandsbediening kan niet rechtstreeks op het PIR-alarm gericht 
 worden.
PIR-alarm werkt niet 
•  Batterijen bijna leeg, leeg, ontbreken of onjuist geplaatst.
PIR veroorzaakt valse alarmen
•  PIR slecht gepositioneerd (bv. in direct zonlicht, tocht en boven 
  een radiator, enz.).

Aan het einde van hun levensduur moet de verpakking 
en het product weggegooid worden via een geschikt 
recyclecentrum.
Gooi dit niet weg bij uw gewone huishoudelijke afval.
