Integrate Adobe PDF into document
workflows
Distiller Server 8 easily integrates into existing
document processes, allowing businesses to
leverage their current software and hardware
investments and increase efficiency. Employees
can continue using familiar software pro-
grams to author documents and then
automatically convert them to Adobe PDF for
streamlined distribution. Distiller Server 8 can
also be integrated with Web applications to
present bills, statements, invoices, and more
over the Internet.
•  Easily integrate Adobe PDF file creation into
ISV solutions and content management and
fulfillment systems.
•  Generate PostScript documents from
desktop or core business applications and
convert them to Adobe PDF.
• Take advantage of higher performance and
scalability when using Linux or Unix
operating systems.
utilize Adobe PDF technology
and standards
Distiller Server 8 utilizes the industry-
standard Adobe PDF specification.
•  Take advantage of the Adobe PDF 1.7
specification, the same version of Adobe PDF
created by Adobe Acrobat(R) 8 software.
Adobe PDF 1.7 uses XMP to store informa-
tion about the file.
• Streamline archiving processes by automati-
cally converting documents into PDF/A, the
ratified ISO standard for long-term archiving
of digital records.
•  Adapt printing workflows to the interna-
tional PDF/X standards with features to aid
in the creation of files that are PDF/X-3 and
PDF/X-1a compliant. Create job tickets in
Portable Job Ticket Format (PJTF) and Job
Definition Format (JDF) so that important
processing instructions are included inside a
PDF file.
•  Decrease distillation time and preserve
image quality with “pass-through” JPEG
image compression. Optimize file quality, file
size, and PDF/X compliancy with predefined
Adobe PDF file creation settings.
