Before setting up the hardware, check that the following jumpers are in place:

Connect the MPLAB ICD 2 to the PC with the USB cable (see Figure 2-11).

Connect the MPLAB ICD 2 to the dsPICDEM™ 1.1 Plus Development Board 
with the short RJ-11 (telephone) cable.

Apply power to the board.
