chipKIT™ Development Platforms
Inspired by Arduino
Summary
The chipKIT Development Platform ecosystem, powered
by Microchip’s 32-bit microcontrollers, is an open-source,
Arduino-compatible solution for beginner to advanced
explorers of embedded systems. The platform inspires
the creativity to build robotics, human interfaces and other
intelligent electronics applications. Flexible enough to
grow with you, it doesn’t assume any prior knowledge of
embedded systems, but also provides a migration path
to professional, industry-recognized tools. The platform
scales easily from full-featured development boards to a
single-chip solution that can be embedded in your own
design, while still using Arduino-based code.
Flexible Hardware Options
Arduino Form-Factor Compatible
The chipKIT™ ecosystem features a
large selection of hardware baseboards
designed to interface with existing
Arduino hardware shields. These
platforms also provide additional
connectivity by mapping more pins to
connection headers to take advantage
of the advanced capabilities of the
PIC32 devices.

The fl exibility of the chipKIT solution
means that you can take advantage of
different levels of hardware integration
while still using the easy-to-use Arduino-
based chipKIT MPIDE software.

Single Chip Solution
If you wish to build applications without
a development board, the prototyping-
friendly PIC32 MCUs in PDIP packages
are available preprogrammed with the
chipKIT USB Bootloader. Specifi cally, the
preprogrammed PIC32MX250F128B is
available in a 28-pin package, allowing
you to reduce design costs and size.
