Installation and Connection Hints for wired
PMR radio Connection Sets

The connection cable sets are designed to link a PMR radio or a navigator to an Albrecht CHS/OHS Headset.

The connecting cable set contains the waterproof connectors to the PTT button, which shall be fixed at a suitable place, e.g.
on the handle bar. All parts can be easily removed and attached several times.

Connect the cable connectors from MIC/Earphone and PTT key set to the multi-pin connectors of the cable set and the other
cables to the radio or other equipment. To avoid accidental wrong connections the cable set uses different connector types
which fit only to the correct accessory items.
Plug the 2 way radio cable into the earphone and mic sockets of your radio. Depending on the model this can be a combined
3.5 / 2.5  mm plug (BHS 300 U), a common 2.5 mm stereo plug (BHS 301), a 3.5 mm passenger intercom plug (BHS
303)
 for Midland G 8 or ALAN 456 R or a double plug for “Kenwood”-style wired radios (BHS 300 K).
The supplied waterproof PTT button shall be always used as talk button.
If you press the transmit button, your voice will be automatically transmitted via the 2-way radio. Release the transmit button to
receive the answer of the distant station.

Important notes for using automatic voice control VOX (not recommended to use at higher speed):
Voice control is only possible with BHS 300 N or BHS 300 K. Please program the radio to VOX  mode and speak into the
microphone without pressing the transmit button.

The motorbike sets BHS 300 U  fit as well to older Albrecht / Midland or other radio brand models with the same plug
system.
BHS 300 U can only operate with the supplied transmit button (PTT)

Our radios Tectalk Action Pro offer an additional motor bike intercom function. For using this intercom function you will need
the  2 x BHS300N version (driver and passenger) + Tectalk Action Pro intercom adapter 41944.
As driver Intercom for Midland G8 or Alan 456 R radios, you need the BHS 300 N version for the driver and for the passenger
you need  the BHS303 cable.

BHS 300 N version fits only to current ALAN and Midland models and may not fit to older or other brand radios.
The sets are in conformity with the European standards of the EN 301 489-X series for direct connection to commercial and
amateur hand held radios and have the CE- marking. More information and the latest valid Declaration of Conformity can be
found on our download server (see below).

Communication range informations:

The following information applies for standard PMR 446 radios used in typical environment conditions:

•
Transmitting from a heightened point of view
up to 10 km and more
•
free space, no obstacles, via free land or water
up to 5 km
•
hills, in forests etc

up to 3 km
•
in villages & suburbs between cars and bikes
up to 2 km
•
on streets inside the cities

up to 1.5 km
•
in cities and with radio carried near body

up to 800 m
•
within large buildings

up to 400 m

The communication range of a PMR 446 depends extremely on the antenna radiating conditions. Free radiation of the radio’s
antenna e.g. mounted on a motorbike holder, results in a much higher communication range compared to carrying the radio in
your pocket.

Please note:
When you are removing the connector please grip the connector. Do not grip the cable. This may damage the
cable and void warranty.
