Using the device
c) Level indicators
The MASTER LEVEL indicator (4) shows the level of the output signal.
The level indicators of channels CH-1 to CH-4 show the input levels of the respective channels.
The level on the indicators should not exceed 0db continuously as otherwise the music signal can be
distorted. Signal peaks that cause the indicator to briefly light up above 0db do not pose a problem.
d) Volume control
• Set the volume of the connected amplifier to minimum.
• Turn the TRIM control (3) to the minimum position.
• Move the channel fader (8) and the MASTER fader (9) to the minimum position as well.
• Use the input selection switches (3) to select the desired channel input.
• Start the connected playback device, e.g. a CD player. If this device has a volume control, set the volume to about
75% of the maximum level.
• Slide the respective channel fader (8) all the way to the top.
• Use the TRIM control (3) of the active channel to adjust the input level. The signal level is shown by the level
indicator of the corresponding channel. It should not exceed 0db.
• Push up the MASTER fader (9) until the maximum level is shown on the MASTER LEVEL indicator. 0db should
not be exceeded here either.
• Now set the desired maximum volume using the volume control on the amplifier. Make sure that the sound is not
distorted.
• Use controls HI/MID/LOW (3) to change the sound characteristics of the respective channel.
• Use the MASTER BALANCE control (13) to set the volume balance between the left and the right master channel.
• Repeat the setting for all mixer channels. All channels should be set to about the same volume so that there are
no great differences in volume between the channels when crossfading. Otherwise you would have to readjust
the output signal.
• After you have made these settings, only use the MASTER fader (9) when you want to change the playback
volume.
Make sure that the connected loudspeakers and the amplifier are not overloaded. The sound
should never be distorted.
If distorted music signals can be heard although the volume on the amplifier has not been set
too high and the mixer has been set correctly, switch off the mixer immediately and check the
connection. If the connection is correct, please contact a specialist.
