User preferences
In this section you will learn how to set your user preferences on the DVD recorder. 
The symbols have the following meanings:

Switch on the TV set. If required, select the programme number for the DVD 
recorder.

Press SYSTEM-MENU on the remote control. The menu bar appears.

Select “
”  using  t or u and confirm with w.

Select the appropriate function with w or v and confirm with u.
5
Select the appropriate line using w or v and confirm with u.

Select the appropriate function using w or v or the setting with t or u.
7
Confirm the new setting by pressing ENTER/OK.

To close the menu item, press t.
You can choose the following features in this menu:
TV Shape
The picture signal from your DVD Recorder can be set to match your TV screen.
4:3 letterbox: for a “wide-screen” picture with black bars at the top and bottom
4:3 panscan”: for a full-height picture with the sides trimmed.
16:9” : for a wide-screen TV set (screen edge ratio 16:9)
Black level shift
Adapts the colour dynamics for NTSC playback
Video shift
Use this feature to adjust the position of the picture on your TV left or right using t, u 
to suit your TV set.
EXT1 video attenuation
Adjusts the brightness level for recording when connected with YPbPr.
Optimize video output
This allows you to switch the Component Video signal between “Interlaced” and “Pro-
gressive Scan
”.
Warning: If your TV has separate connections for “Interlaced” and “Progressive 
Scan
” or it does not switch automatically between the two, it is possible that no pic-
ture will appear on the TV after it is switched from one to the other.
