Chapter 3: Getting To Know The 8525/30 G2
The Keypad Backlight
8525 G2/8530 G2 vehicle-mounts are equipped with a twelve macro keys that can 
be programmed to replace frequently used keystrokes, along with the function of 
executable keys like the [ENTER] key, the [BKSP] key, any function key and arrow 
key, and so on. 
Macro Keys [M1] To [M12]
These keys are displayed in blue print across the top row of alpha keys and the first 
two alpha keys in the second row on the keyboard. 
To access a macro key, press the [BLUE] key followed by the appropriate alpha key. 
For example, on a Qwerty keyboard:
Press [BLUE] [Q] to access macro key [M1].
To access [M2], press [BLUE] [W], and so on.
3.4.3  The Keypad Backlight
The intensity of the keypad backlight and the conditions under which this backlight 
is activated can be configured using the Keyboard icon in the Windows CE Control 
Panel
. The behaviour of the keypad backlight is tailored in the Keyboard Properties 
dialog box.
Note: Refer to “Keyboard Backlight” on page 89 for details about this option. 
Keep in mind that this option may be restricted to supervisory use only.
3.5  The Display
8525 G2/8530 G2s are equipped with display backlighting to improve character 
visibility in low light conditions. The backlight switches on when a key is pressed or 
the touchscreen is tapped. The backlight intensity and the duration of time that the 
backlight will remain at full intensity can be specified in the Display Properties 
dialog box in the Windows CE Control Panel.

3.5.1  Calibrating The Touchscreen
If your 8525 G2/8530 G2 touchscreen has never been calibrated or if you find that 
the stylus pointer is not accurate when you tap on an item, use the Stylus Properties 
dialog box in the Windows CE Control Panel to recalibrate the screen.
