Each
 
controller

two
 
host
 
ports
 
and
 
one
 
expansion

server

hosts

expansion
 
units.
 
You
 
first
 
insert
 
SFPs
 
into
 
the
 
ports
 
and
 
then
 
connect
 
the
 
fibre
 
channel
 
cables.
 
Host
 
ports
  
The
 
host
 
ports
 
(labelled

and
 
Host
 
2)
 
are
 
used
 
to
 
connect
 
a
 
fibre
 
channel
 
cable
 
from
 
the
 
host
 
systems.
 
You
 
first
 
insert

SFP
 
into
 
the
 
port
 
and
 
then
 
connect
 
a
 
fibre
 
channel
 
cable.
 
The
 
two
 
host
 
ports
 
in
 
each
 
controller
 
are
 
independent.
 
They
 
are
 
not
 
connected
 
in
 
the
 
controller
 
module
 
as
 
they
 
would
 
be
 
in
 
a
 
hub
 
configuration.
 
The
 
host
 
port
 
connections
 
can
 
auto-negotiate
 
between

additional
 
expansion
 
units
 
to
 
the
 
RAID
 
controllers
 
on
 
the
 
DS4100
 
base
 
storage
 
server.
 
You
 
first
 
insert
 
an
 
SFP
 
into
 
the
 
port
 
and
 
then
 
connect
 
a
 
fibre
 
channel
 
cable.
 
Note:
  
In
 
the
 
DS4100
 
single-controller
 
storage
 
server,
 
the
 
expansion
 
port
 
on
 
the
 
RAID
 
controller
 
is
 
not
 
active.
Serial
 
port
 
The
 
serial
 
port
 
is
 
used
 
by
 
service
 
personnel
 
to
 
perform
 
diagnostic
 
operations
 
on
 
the
 
RAID
 
controllers.
 
Incorrect
 
use
 
of
 
the
 
serial
 
port
 
can
 
result
 
in
 
loss
 
of
 
data
 
access
 
and,
 
in
 
some
 
cases,
 
in
 
loss
 
of
 
data.
