Operation and Maintenance 
  Install five additional cartridges into storage slots 1 through 5. 
  Verify that the LCD now shows that slots 1 through 7 have tapes present. 
Close and Lock the Front Door 
Close the FastStor door, turn the key a quarter-turn clockwise and remove it from the lock. 
  Turn on the host computer power and launch the software application. 
The application will now control the FastStor. Use the Mode commands, described on the following pages, to manually perform 
FastStor functions. 
Drive Status Messages 
During on-line operation, your FastStor will place drive status messages on the top line of the LCD. The following table lists the 
messages that will appear on the LCD:

Drive is calibrating head to tracks on tape 
EJECTING 
Drive is unloading tape 
CLEANING 
Drive is cleaning head with cleaning cartridge 
ERASING 
Drive is erasing tape 
REAdING

Drive is writing to tape 
SEEKING 
Drive is seeking a position on tape 
REWINdING 
Drive is rewinding tape
