Connecting the Slingbox power adapter

Connect the supplied power adapter to the Slingbox and to an electrical outlet. When plugged in, the 

Power light on the front of the Slingbox comes on, and then the lights on the front of the Slingbox will blink 

a few times as the Slingbox starts up.

The Network light remains on if the Slingbox successfully received an IP address (the Slingbox is recog-

nized by your router as a new device on your network). If both the power and network lights are on, you are 

ready to install the software.

Before you Install the SlingPlayer software

• Make sure your computer is connected to the same router as the Slingbox. See “Multiple routers in 

your home” on page 72 for more information.

• If you have a cable box, satellite receiver or DVR, make sure it is ON and set to live television (not 

recording a program), and no menu is on your TV screen.

• Look at the front of the Slingbox. If the Power and Network lights are on, you’re ready to install the soft-

ware. Go to “Chapter 3: Installing the Slingbox Software” on page 21.
