11.1.1.6 Communication Setup sub menu

This menu allows the user to select the parameters for communication between the SSPA
and the remote monitor and control station. All changes made on this menu will take effect
only after a hardware reset of the SSPA controller card. This can be accomplished by either
cycling the SSPA AC power or selecting the menu item from Terminal mode “Options”
“Reset” menu item.

Protocol
This selection allows the user to change the SSPA default serial protocol setting. “Binary”
protocol will force the SSPA to use the protocol version compatible with earlier Compact
Outdoor SSPAs (those with a serial number below 100 000). “String” is the default protocol
for the current version of the Compact Outdoor SSPA. “Terminal” allows supporting TMSP.

Baud Rate
This item allows the user to select the desired baud rate for serial communication. Available
baud rates include 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200 and 38400 Baud. The factory default baud rate
is 9600.

System Address
This selection allows the user to set the network address of the controller if used on a RS-485
network. Choose from 1 to 255. The address 170 shouldn’t be selected, because it is
reserved for global calls.

11.1.1.7 Operation setup sub menu

This menu allows user to select system-specific options.

SysID
Displays the unique SSPA ID tag as well as the firmware version of the controller card.

System
Allows the user to select the SSPA redundancy mode. Choose Standalone or 1:1.

Gain Control
Selects the style of SSPA attenuation control. User may select between “Analog” and “Serial”
types of control.

Attenuation
Allows the user to set the SSPA attenuation level between 0 and 20 dB in steps of 0.1dB. In
order to take effect, the SSPA must be configured for “Serial” type of attenuation control.

Mute
Selects the SSPA mute state. Selection values: “On” or “Off”.
