As a conventional burner
By default, the flexible cooking zone can be used as a 
single burner.
Activate this function
The cooktop must be turned on.
1.
Select the flexible cooking zone with the symbols 
Á
 
or 
Â
.
 lights up in the element display.
2.
Set the desired power level with the number keys.
The flexible cooking zone is activated.
Changing the heat setting
Change the heat setting on the control panel.
Add another piece of cookware
Select the flexible cooking zone and touch the
Flex ON symbol. The element will detect the new piece of 
cookware.
The previously set power level will be maintained.
Note:  When you lift or remove cookware from an 
activated element the element will automatically try to 
detect the cookware. The previously set power level is 
maintained.
Turning off this function
Select the cooking zone and touch the Flex OFF symbol. 
As two burners
The flexible cooking zone can be used as two 
independent burners.
Activating this function
1.
Select the flexible cooking zone and touch the Flex 
OFF symbol. The indicator 
b
 lights up between the 
Á
 
and 
Â
 symbols.
2.
Select one of the flexible cooking zones. 
.
 lights up 
in the element display.
3.
Set the power level with the number keys.
The function is switched off by:
selecting the burner and pressing the 0 symbol. The 
burner switches off.
Note:  If the cooktop is switched off and on again, the 
flexible cooking zone is switched to operation as a single 
burner again.
SpeedBoost function
The SpeedBoost function can be used to heat large 
amounts of water faster than by using heat level 
Š
.
Limitation on use
This function is available on all elements, provided that 
no other element in the same group is operating, (see 
picture). If this is not the case, the 
 and 
Š
 symbols will 
flash on the selected element display; then it will 
automatically set the power level 
Š
.
Note:  You can achieve maximum power on the flexible 
cooking zone by placing just one piece of cookware in 
the middle of the cooking zone as described in the 
Flexible Cooking Zone chapter.
Setting SpeedBoost
1.
Select an element.
2.
Touch Speed Boost. The function is set.
Turning SpeedBoost off
1.
Select an element on which SpeedBoost is set.
2.
Touch Speed Boost. The function is deactivated.
Note:  In certain circumstances, the function may be 
deactivated automatically to protect the internal 
electronic components of the cooktop.
Cook time
You can use the timer function to set a cook time for any 
element. The element will turn off automatically once the 
set time has elapsed.

CAUTION
When using the timer, always keep an eye on the 
cooktop and do not allow anything to boil over or 
burn. Boilovers can cause smoke and foods and 
oils may catch on fire if left on high temperature 
settings.
This function should not be used for long periods 
of time, especially at high heat settings. 
Make sure the cooktop is turned off with the main 
power switch after each use.
