Cavity
Porcelain Enamel on Steel
Porcelain enamel is acid resistant, but not acid proof. Acid foods such as
citrus juices, tomatoes, rhubarb, vinegar, alcohol or milk, should be wiped
up and not allowed to bake onto the porcelain during the next use. Over a
period of time, the porcelain may craze (get fine hairlike lines) This will not
affect oven performance.
Hot sudsy water.
 Wash, rinse thoroughly, and dry.
Mild Cleaners: Bon-ami®, ammonia, or ammonia and water, Soft Scrub®.
Apply to a damp sponge or cloth. Rub lightly. Rinse thoroughly. Dry. If
food has burned onto the oven and is difficult to remove, the spots can
be soaked with a cloth saturated with household ammonia. Close the
door and allow it to soak for an hour or two, or until the food soil can be
easily removed with a damp soapy cloth or mild abrasive. A solution of
about 3 tablespoons of household ammonia in a half cup of water may
be placed in the warm oven over night. This will loosen hardened
residue and spillage so that it may be easily wiped up. The ammonia
solution may be added to warm water for a thorough wiping of the oven.
