IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Please Read and Save These Instructions
WARNING – TO REDUCE THE RISK OF 
FIRE, ELECTRICAL SHOCK, OR INJURY 
TO PERSONS, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING.
CAUTION – FOR GENERAL VENTILATING 
USE ONLY.  DO NOT USE TO EXHAUST 
HAZARDOUS OR EXPLOSIVE MATERIALS 
OR VAPORS.
 Use this unit only in the manner intended by 
the manufacturer.  If you have questions, 
contact the manufacturer.
 Before servicing or cleaning the unit, switch 
power off at service panel and lock service 
panel to prevent power from being switched 
on accidentally.
 Installation work and electrical wiring must 
be done by a qualified person(s) in 
accordance with all applicable codes and 
standards, including fire rated construction.
 Sufficient air is needed for proper 
combustion and exhausting of gases through 
the flue (chimney) of fuel burning 
equipment to prevent back drafts.  Follow 
the heating equipment and safety standards 
such as those published by the National Fire 
Protection Association, the American 
Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air 
Conditioning Engineers, and the local code 
authorities.
 Due to the size and weight of this unit, two 
installers are recommended.
 When cutting or drilling into the wall or 
ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and 
other hidden utilities.
 Ducted fans must always be vented to the 
outdoors.  Do not vent to an attic or crawl 
space.
 WARNING – TO REDUCE THE RISK OF 
FIRE, USE ONLY METAL DUCT WORK.
 Install this hood in accordance with all 
requirements specified.
WARNING
 Never leave surface units unattended at 
high settings.  Boil overs can cause 
smoking and greasy spillovers may 
ignite.  Heat oils slowly on low or 
medium settings.
 Always turn the hood on when cooking 
on high heat or when flambéing or 
grilling foods.
 Clean filters frequently.  Grease should 
not be allowed to accumulate.
 Use proper fan size.  Always use 
cookware appropriate for the size of the 
surface element.
