The Gryphon I reader includes a new sensor, microprocessor and optimized software which allows unmatched
snappiness and the ability to easily read poorly printed or damaged bar codes.
The Gryphon I reader is also equipped with unique and patented features providing true differentiation from competitive
products allowing you to compete on performance, not just price.
The versatility that the Gryphon I reader provides all of the features that are important when purchasing a general purpose
reader:
•  For end users, appropriate size, light weight, ergonomic design, broad distance reading and snappiness
performance make the job easier and less tiring
•  For IT managers, ease of installation, limited training requirements and high throughput mean lower support
cost
•  For decision makers, productivity, efficiency, cost reduction, a long warranty combine to provide the lowest
cost of ownership and a true economic benefit

Reading Performance Aimed at Target Applications
The new decoding library of the Gryphon I reader includes the most popular linear bar code families as well as linear GS1
DataBar™ codes.  As already anticipated, we have highlighted some of the key features specifically for each target
application.  Retail environments require a high throughput scanner. Snappiness, combined with a broad reading range
and the ability to read poorly printed bar codes is a real advantage.

The Gryphon I reader is very effective and fast reading on damaged or poorly printed bar codes. However, on a bar code
in good condition, it reads more than 90% of labels in less than 40 msec, faster than all other competitors.  On EAN/UPC
13 mil bar codes, the Gryphon I reads from near zero to over 60.0 cm / 23.6 in at extreme skew angles with no
degradation of reading speed.

Office automation requires resistance against repeated shocks along with the requirement  to read wide codes especially
in banking, utilities or postal applications.   The Gryphon I reader resists  multiple drops from 1.8 m / 5.9 ft but the practical
result is that the product can withstand repeated shocks from shorter distances. Thanks to the renewed optics providing a
scan angle of 42°, the Gryphon I can now read wide codes from a significant distance (25 cm label from a 30.0 cm / 11.8
in distance).

In manufacturing environments for work-in-progress, machine configuration or quality control activities it’s key to have a
rugged device with good reading promptness.  Also, in some manufacturing sectors such as electronics or
communications its mandatory to read small high resolution codes.  Gryphon I provides the capability to read below 3 mils
code resolution and unmatched reliability and robustness thanks to a super protected enclosure made by over moulded
rubber/plastic that resists multiple shocks and  drops from 1.8 m / 5.9 ft.

Also for logistics applications, Gryphon I reader’s reading distance, outstanding durabiltiy, and IP rating for protection from
from environmental  contamination are key buying criteria.  The Gryphon I has the longest reading performance of any
general purpose reader, with the ability to read low resolution codes at over 80.0 cm / 31.5 in on 20 mil codes  And the
IP42 rating ensures protection from dust and even light rain.  In addtion to the outstanding product performance, the
Gryphon I provides the patented Green Spot, a key feature for any environment requiring additional feedback notification
when the standard beeper and LED are not enough.
