Offering a perfect balance between cost and value the LTO-3 drive is one of most popular 

LTO product in the market. With its native capacity of 400 GB it meets the needs of modern IT 

infrastructures. Being backwards read compatible to LTO-1 drives the LTO-3 closes the gap between 

the successful start of LTO and stays in contact in with modern server architectures.

The LTO-2 tape drive was the second family member within the successful LTO history. LTO-2 

achieved the breakthrough in the market and is still up to date for backing up smaller local server’s 

with up to 200GB of capacity (uncompressed). According to the data transfer rate of 86.4TB/h native, 

a complete backup is achieved in just over 2 hours.

The newest family member within the LTO family comes up with up to 3,000GB of compressed capacity, 

and a data transfer rate of up to 1TB per hour. The new LTO-5 carries a high performance SAS interface, 

which makes the installation as easy as possible. Like all former LTO generations, the new LTO-5 tape-drive 
is two generations backwards read compatible, and is able to write data on standard LTO-4 media.  

The LTO-4 drive reached its position as a real mainstream backup device for major industries data 

backup solutions. Available as half height (HH) or full height (FH) device with standard industry SCSI 

or SAS interface, it fits into most server environments. Dynamic Speed Matching enables the drive to 

ensure a continuous data stream between the server and the back up device.
