Remote operation
Using a touch tone phone, you can call 
your phone number from outside and 
access the unit to listen to messages. 
The unit’s voice guidance prompts you to 
press certain dial keys to perform 
different operations.
Important:

In order to operate the answering 
system remotely, you must first turn 
on remote operation by setting a 
remote code (page 64). This code 
must be entered each time you 
operate the answering system 
remotely.

To call the unit via the IP line from a 
landline phone or mobile phone, you 
need an additional phone number you 
subscribed at www.joip.com other 
than the joip number (page 4).
Turning remote operation on

A 3-digit remote code must be entered 
when operating the answering system 
remotely. This code prevents 
unauthorised parties from listening to 
your messages remotely. After you store 
your remote code, remote operation is 
possible. The default setting is “Off”.

To turn on remote operation, enter a 
3-digit remote code. Enter the 
desired 3-digit remote code.

To turn off remote operation, 
press {*}.

Note:

If you have stored the remote code, 
you can turn on the answering system 
by calling the unit even when it is 
turned off (page 60). This call may be 
answered before the ring delay 
feature of the night mode (page 59) 
activates. You need to select “30 
sec.”
 for activating the ring delay 
feature.
Using the answering system 
remotely

Dial your phone number from a 
touch tone phone.

After the greeting message starts, 
enter your remote code (page 64).

The unit plays back new 
messages.

Control the unit using remote 
commands (page 65).

When finished, hang up.
Note:

When you press a key, press firmly.
Voice guidance
During remote operation, the unit’s voice 
guidance starts and prompts you to 
press {1} to perform a specific 
operation, or press {2} to listen to more 
available operations. Operations are 
presented by voice guidance in the 
following order:
– Play back all messages
– Play back new messages
– Record your message
– Erase all messages
– Record your greeting message
Note:

If you do not press any dial keys within 
10 seconds after a voice guidance 
prompt, the unit disconnects your call.
