Installing the Modem

The 

EZ Connect Cable Modem contains four LEDs on the top panel. The operational 

status of the modem is indicated by the LED conditions listed below.

Before installing the modem, verify that you have all the items listed under “Package 
Contents”. If any of the items are missing or damaged, contact your local 

SMC 

distributor. Also, be sure you have all the necessary tools and cabling before 
installing the modem

This package includes:

PWR

On Red

Power is being supplied to the modem.

LINK On Green Indicates a valid 

10/100Mbps Ethernet link.

ACT

On Green

Indicates that the modem is receiving data from the 

service provider.

STS

Off

Indicates that the modem is starting up and searching 

for an available channel to use to transmit data to the 

service provider.

Flashing Green

Indicates that the modem is attempting to establish a 

connection to transmit data to the service provider.

On Green

Indicates that the modem is online and fully 

operational
