Command Line Interface Conventions

The Access Navigator control interface uses a Command Line Interface (CLI) language. Procedures in this 
manual use the following conventions to represent input commands and output messages:

Input commands appear in a bold typewriter font, as in the following example:
set ds1 1-4 up

If a command requires the operator to enter information, an italic typewriter font is used to show what 
item or items are required. Each item will be enclosed in < and > symbols, as in the following 
example. Do not type the < > symbols:
set ds1 <n> <setting>
l
If the operator must enter one item from a list, the items will be separated by vertical lines, as in the 
following example. Do not type the < | > symbols:
set ds1 <n> <up|down>
l
System output messages to the operator are printed in normal typewriter font, as in the following 
response to show the settings for DS1 number 13:
show ds1 13
