NOTE:  
In the following step, you must enter the IP address of the TFTP server and the 
file name or path name of the update software. The name must be enclosed in quotes. 
Carrier Access software file names are shortened for compatibility with PC and UNIX 
systems. For example, a CA part number for GR-303 software such as 019-0050 version 
1.80 would be shortened to 0050180.303. Similarly, the DCS software would be shortened 
to 00510180.DCS, and the GR-303 P-Phone software would be shortened to 
02310180.EBS. Boot code software version 01.09 would be named BT0109.MGM.
During the load operation, the standby Controller will report its status as “Card Failed” so 
that the active Controller will reject switch controller commands until the software 
update process is complete.
1. Send load command to update standby Controller with the following command:
load tftp standby <ipaddress> <"file">
Example: load tftp standby 192.168.118.65 "00500172.303"
Example: load tftp standby 192.168.118.65 "C:\CA\00510172.DCS"
NOTE:  
Depending on the file size and network speed, the file transfer may take several 
minutes.
2. Wait two minutes to allow updated Controller card to boot up and learn system configuration 
settings.
3. Verify current Controller status and software version with following command:
status equipment
Requirement:
Updated Controller is in “Standby”, indicating it is operational.
Requirement:
Standby Controller shows new software version.
4. If active Controller has version greater than 1.1x software (version number starts with the digits 
1.1), skip to 
file
File name used to save the configuration data. The file and 
optional path must be enclosed in quotes, as in 
"C:\CONFIG\AN26". The default path is the root directory of the 
TFTP server.
blocksize
Transmission block size (optional), 512 to 8192. The default is 
8192 bytes.
