Recovery CD
The Recovery CD can
reinstall the software to the
state it was in when you
purchased the computer.
You also have the option of
restoring your computer to
the way it was when you
performed the last User
Backup.
Caution:  Everything
added to the drive
since the last User
Backup will be lost
after you perform a
user recovery.
User Backup creates
USER.PQI files. These files
are read-only—you cannot edit
their contents.
Tip
Recovery CD
Using the Recovery CD
Restarting your computer with the Recovery CD in the drive
displays the following menu of options:
Option
Description
Emergency
Diskette
Creates a recovery diskette, which stores the system
information that came with your computer. This diskette
is necessary if Windows does not start normally. You can
start the system with this diskette and access your files.
User Backup
Creates a backup of the current Windows configuration
and saves it on a separate partition on your hard drive.
The backup is stored in USER. PQI files.
User Restore
Extracts the data from the USER.PQI files stored on the
D drive and restores the C drive to the settings that
existed at the time of your last User Backup.
Factory Restore
Restores the computer to its original factory condition.
You will need to re-enter your factory registration
information again, and you may be prompted to insert
your emergency diskette.
Exit
Exits the Recovery CD.
