Functionalities
Application Support Wizards. The application
support wizards let you easily specify which
mission-critical applications or data you want
to replicate. You can select from multiple
predefined applications (such as Microsoft
Exchange, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft
Internet Information Services, Netscape
Enterprise Server, Lotus Notes, Oracle,
Microsoft Proxy Server and Unicenter
®
Network and Systems Management)
to provide complete protection against
application and server failures.
• User-Defined Application Wizards. With
user-defined wizards, you can easily set up
and configure any application for failover
(see Figure 1). You can define files, folders,
services and other relevant information,
and choose how data will be managed
and replicated in the event of a disaster.
• Optional Synchronization. You can
decide whether or not to synchronize the
application data between the primary and
secondary servers. This allows you to eliminate
unneeded synchronization when the
application (such as Oracle) contains
its own synchronization method and
you need only failover capabilities.
• Failover Across Subnets. This capability
enables you to have a secondary server in
a different segment of your network. As a
result, you can have a failover from your
primary server to your secondary server
even if the secondary server is in another
building, city or country.
• Real-Time Data Replication. Patented
transaction capture technology and high-speed
transmission techniques allow BrightStor
High Availability to deliver optimum network
performance without sacrificing data integrity.
• Automated, Single-Step Reinstatement.
You can use a simple wizard or the
management console to rebuild the
primary server data after replacing or
fixing any failed hardware. Once all
problems are corrected, you can once again
use the primary server as you had before.
• Enterprise Management Capabilities.
