The diagram shown below is an example of a Pull-To-Open installation on a chain link fence and single
gate. Mounting the operator on a masonry column requires special procedures; see Column Installation
Information on page 23. Furthermore, if you have a Push-To-Open gate, see Push-To-Open Installation on
page 21 before proceeding.
Install the Operator
Install the Post Bracket Assembly
The post bracket is designed to work on a flat post. Posts
must be at least 6” square in order to bolt the post bracket.
When using bolts to mount the post bracket, the bolts must
completely penetrate the post.
• The best method of attaching the post bracket to a metal
post is welding.
• If your post exceeds 8”, it will be necessary to use hex
head bolts longer than those supplied.
• Round wood posts (no smaller than 8” diameter) may be
notched to create a flat surface for attaching the post
bracket.
• Wood posts will require a metal plate (not provided)
between the nuts and post to prevent the operator from
pulling the bolts and washers through the wood.
• A post smaller than 6” in diameter should be made of
metal instead of wood so that it will remain stable while
the operator is moving the gate.
• Masonry columns will require masonry anchors/
hardware (not provided).
