Receiving Private Calls
When you receive a Nextel Direct Connect Private call, your phone will 
automatically switch to Private mode. You will hear a chirp indicating that 
someone is calling you.
To respond to a Private Call:
Quickstore of Private IDs (Nextel Direct Connect 
Numbers)
Quickstore allows you to quickly store the Private ID for a received or sent call 
without having to enter the Programming menu.
With the Private ID displayed:
NOTE: When you Direct Connect someone in as different network and 
use Quickstore, the full Nextel Direct Connect number, (the 
Area ID * Network ID * Member ID) will be stored. When you 
Direct Connect someone within your private network only the 
Member ID will be displayed.
Sending a Call Alert
You can send a call alert, which lets the recipient know that you would like to 
talk with them. When you send an alert, the recipient’s phone will chirp several

Press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button to answer the Call 
Alert.

Wait for the caller to stop speaking

Press and hold the PTT button. Begin talking after the phone emits a 
chirping sound.

Release the PTT button to listen.

Enter the name associated with the Private ID (Nextel Direct Connect 
Number).

 under “Store.” The Stored message displays with the name 
that you entered.
