Finding and Recording Places  195
10.3  HTC Footprints™
HTC Footprints™ provides an easy way to record favorite places and revisit those
places. A footprint consists of a photo you take of a location such as a restaurant, a
sightseeing destination, etc., stored together with a precise GPS position and other
information about that location such as the street address and phone number.
The next time you want to visit the same place, simply access the footprint. You can
then dial the phone number, view the location in Google Maps, or access the GPS
navigation software to navigate to the location.
Create a footprint
To create a new footprint, you can either take a photo of your current location, or
use a photo from Album. If the photo from Album is geotagged with a precise GPS
position, this is shown as the GPS position on your new footprint.
To take a photo and add location information
1.
Do one of the following:
Press the FOOTPRINTS button.
On the Home screen, slide to the Footprints tab, tap the category that
best describes your current location, and touch the New icon
 on the
upper right side of the screen.
Tap Start > Programs > Footprints, tap the category that best describes
your current location, and tap Menu > New.
Note  For more information about categories in Footprints, see “Find a previously
visited place” in this chapter.
2.
Point the camera at the scene you want to show the location. Footprints starts
to use GPS to search for your position. The GPS signal strength is indicated by
the bars at the bottom left of the screen. The more blue bars that are shown,
the stronger the signal, and the quicker your position will be found.
