14  Finding and Recording Places
Preferences
You can change the way TomTom NAVIGATOR looks and behaves. Tap Change 
preferences on the Main Menu to access and adjust the settings. The following are 
some of the settings that you may want to customize for NAVIGATOR:
Use night colors
Reduce the brightness of the screen and use darker colors on 
the map. Use this setting when you are in a dark environment. 
To change back to brighter colors, tap Use day colors.
Show POI on map
Select which categories of points of interest to display on the 
map.
Safety preferences
Set safety options when using NAVIGATOR. Select the items you 
want to enable and then tap Done. You can also set a warning 
to tell you which side of the road to drive and to Turn off 
map display so that you see only information about the next 
instruction.
Voice preferences
Manage NAVIGATOR voices. You can change the voice, turn off 
voice instructions, and download new voices from TomTom 
services. 
Turn off sound/Turn on 
sound
Tap to toggle between turning the spoken instructions off or on. 
Volume preferences
Change the volume of the spoken instructions.
Manage Favorites
Rename, delete, and find favorites.
Change Home location
Set your Home location, which can be your actual home, or any 
place you often go to such as your office.
Manage maps
Download or delete a map, or switch to another map.
Manage POIs
Add, edit or delete a POI or a category. You can also enable a 
notification sound to alert you when you are close to a POI.
Change car symbol
Change the symbol used to display your current position in 
Driving View.
Turn on 2D display/
Change  2D/3D display
Select whether to use D or D perspective for the map.
