Troubleshooting and Maintenance
F.
CLEANING THE PRINTHEAD
It may be necessary to clean the printhead nozzles if you notice
reduced print quality, or if you suspect an cartridge nozzle has
become slightly dried out or clogged.  Follow both the manual
and automatic method to thoroughly clean the printhead.  If the
printer has been switched off for several weeks you may have to
perform both the manual and automatic method multiple times.
Manual method:
1.  Remove the printhead using the instructions in Section 5G.
2.  Moisten a lint-free cloth
with water.
3.  Hold the cloth against the
nozzles for three seconds.
This will “wick” some
additional ink onto the
damp cloth.
4.  Wipe in one direction only.
5.  Repeat the process until all
colors appear evenly on
the cloth.
6.  Finally, clean the copper contacts on the back of the print-
head and on the carriage.
Automatic method:
1.  Open the PTStatus monitor.
2.  Click Clean printhead on the
Cartridge Utilities Tab
 (second tab).
3.  Follow the onscreen prompts.  You will need a sheet of
paper for this process.
